I started out with this old gate that I got for free.
During the recent French Flea Market that I was a part of, I was able to sneak away from my booth every now and then to do a little shopping of my own. That is where I found these cool metal number markers. I cannot remember for the life of me what the dealer said their original purpose was. If you know, please comment below! I know it had to do with farming, like meat markers, poultry markers, something like that. Anyway, I thought they were pretty neat, so I scooped up 6 of them.
I turned the gate on it's side and after measuring, screwed on the metal markers.
Then I went through some old photos of my dad when he was a kid. Some happen to be the right size and slide in perfectly, others I had to photocopy and cut to size.
I just love looking through old photos. The kids and I sat for hours looking through them and laughing and guessing who everyone was.
