sorry to do it to you, but it may be worth it.
This is what we will be having for breakfast on Christmas morning.
It's good.
Real good.
Unbutton your pants good.
And here's the recipe for you....
Ingredients
1 (1 pound) loaf French bread, cut diagonally in 1 inch slices
8 eggs
2 cups milk
1 1/2 cups half-and-half cream
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
3/4 cup butter
1 1/3 cups brown sugar
3 tablespoons light corn syrup
Directions
Butter a 9x13 inch baking dish. Arrange the slices of bread in the bottom. In a large bowl, beat together eggs, milk, cream, vanilla and cinnamon. Pour over bread slices, cover, and refrigerate overnight.
The next morning, preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). In a small saucepan, combine butter, brown sugar and corn syrup; heat until bubbling. Pour over bread and egg mixture.
Bake in preheated oven, uncovered, for 40 minutes.
* Here is what I do differently.
I dip the bread instead of "pouring the egg mixture over the bread"
and I sprinkle each layer with cinnamon. I also turn the whole thing over {I just use a spatula and turn each stack one at a time} after it's been soaking for a couple of hours. Finally I just buy San Francisco sliced french bread instead of cutting the bread myself and I use the biggest lasagna pan I have.
Eat your hearts out.
xoxo
p.s. yes I know I was MIA yesterday.
I was recovering from the cocktail party.....
loads of fun I might add!
