I rescued an old planter that used to hang on the side of our house, as it was going into the campfire. I took off the rotting planter boxes and cut it to size. Once it was all stripped down to the chippy white paint (complete with dirt) I knew exactly what I was going to do with it! 
I have always wanted one of those wood flag signs that Pottery Barn sells.
Now I have my own, and the cost: FREE
It's super heavy so I will have to wait till my hubby gets home to hang it, but it is going on the side of the house right over the BBQ!
