I started out with a photo of my friends home.
I then took it to Kinkos and made it a black and white copy of it. You could do sepia too.
I brought it home and printed the lettering on it through my computer. I chose, "There's no place like home for the holidays"
I cut a piece of pine wood to size and painted it black.
When dry, I distressed the edges.
I then decupaged my image onto the painted wood.
Using a fine sanding block, I went over the whole piece, roughing it up a little to add to that vintage look.
When dry, I added a little antiquing glaze to make it look even more shabby chic.
Voila! A customized plaque for my friend, of her house, to display for the holidays!
